THE PAS, MB – Joshua Schmidt scored 9:15 into triple overtime of game two to lift the Dauphin Kings over the Northern Manitoba Blizzard, tying the best-of-seven McMunn & Yates Turnbull Cup Final at 1-1.
It was the Kings who would open the scoring and get their first of the series when Naaman Hofer picked up a loose puck in the slot and fired it over the glove of Taye Timmerman to give Dauphin 1-0 lead just 5:34 in.

The Blizzard outshot the Kings, 15-11 in the 1st while the Kings killed off the lone Blizzard man-advantage.
Like they did in the first, Dauphin would find the back of the net early when Gabriel Bugeaud jumped on a loose puck near the top of the crease and beat Timmerman to give the Kings a 2-0 lead.

Just two minutes later on a Blizzard man-advantage, Quincy Supprien found Tyler Dahms open in the slot where he made no mistake, blasting it by Cole Sheffield to cut the Kings lead in half at 2-1.

With under four to play in the second, Benson Hirst pulled the puck around Dauphin’s defender and wired it by Sheffield to tie the game at 2-2. For a second straight period, the Blizzard outshot the Kings 14-10, bringing the two period total to 29-21 in favour of the Blizzard.

Both teams gave up very little in the third period that would lead to the Final heading to overtime for the first time in what’s expected to be a long series between the Blizzard and Kings. The Blizzard held possession in the first overtime period but couldn’t solve Sheffield and game two would require double overtime.
After the second overtime period solved nothing, both teams would trade chances in triple overtime until Joshua Schmidt’s shot from the slot beat Timmerman on the glove side to win a very important game two on the road.
