Niverville Nighthawks forward, Adam Vigfusson, was recognized on Sunday night as the Nighthawks RBC Community Ambassador.
Vigfusson has displayed outstanding citizenship and sportsmanship both on and off the ice and a commitment to volunteerism. RBC Community Ambassadors are recognized for making a difference and giving back to their communities where they play.
“It means a lot to give back to the community of Niverville,” Vigfusson shared of the honour. “As a newer organization in the league, we need the community support, so every chance we get we try to give back. Niverville has been such a good home for us, and to be able to contribute in giving back to a community like Niverville is an honour.”
Like Vigfusson, each Ambassador is recognized at their RBC Game Night and will be honoured by a donation from RBC to a school in their local community. Vigfusson’s donation will go to the Niverville Elementary School.
“Giving back to the community is important because Niverville has opened their community to us. The support we receive has been incredible so it’s important to show our appreciation to the people of Niverville.”
“My favourite thing about being in the community is seeing the joy that we can bring to people. Whether it’s taking the time to have coffee with the seniors, or going to the preschool to read books, the joy that we can spread in the community is infectious. It really is a true blessing to be in such a welcoming community,” Vigfusson concluded.
At the conclusion of the regular season, one RBC – MJHL Community Ambassador will be named as the recipient of the RBC Community Award, which comes with a further donation from RBC in the player’s name to a school in their local community.
