Winkler Flyers defenseman, James Richards has committed to play NCAA Division 1 men’s hockey at Niagara University.
Fresh off of his rookie season in the MJHL, Richards posted 3 goals and 18 assists in 53 regular season games before helping contribute towards the Flyers run to a Turnbull Cup Championship, adding 1 goal and 5 assists in 15 games.
Richards capped off his season with the Flyers at the Centennial Cup where he added 1 goal and 1 assist in 5 games.
The Niagara University Purple Eagles men’s hockey team plays NCAA Division 1 Hockey in the Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) conference. Richards joins Blizzard goaltender, Tomas Anderson, who also committed to Niagara earlier in the 2023-24 season.
