WINNIPEG, MB – The second round of the McMunn & Yates Turnbull Cup Playoffs are set.
Following the Steinbach Pistons defeat of the Portage Terriers in five games on Saturday night, both semi-final matchups have now been solidified with the Niverville Nighthawks meeting the Waywayseecappo Wolverines, and the Steinbach Pistons clashing with the Virden Oil Capitals.
It will be a series of firsts when the Nighthawks and Wolverines meet in round two. Both clubs are fresh off of their first playoff series wins in franchise history with one of the Nighthawks or Wolverines now guaranteed to make their first appearance in the Turnbull Cup Final.
The Pistons and Oil Capitals have met a number of times in the Turnbull Cup Playoffs including their most recent meeting in the 2022-23 Turnbull Cup Final when the Pistons won in five games. Prior to that matchup in the Final, Steinbach got the better of Virden during the second round in 2021-22.
