It All Comes Down To This | Series Tied 3-3
Game 7 between the Pistons and the Blizzard is set to take place in La Broquerie on Wednesday night. It’s a winner-take-all, take no prisoners, leave it all on the table kind of night with the Winkler Flyers cozied up under their blankets, eating popcorn, set to enjoy the show and take on the winner in the MJHL Final.
After their best performance of the post-season in game 6, Steinbach will look to carry the momentum over onto home ice where it’s been difficult for visiting teams to find success. That’s true in most cases but not when it comes to the Blizzard who have won 2 of 3 at the HyLife Centre in this series. Neither team has won back-to-back games to this point. Steinbach’s last game 7 came in round 1 of last year’s playoffs, eventually ending in hoisting the Turnbull Cup.
For the Blizzard, you just have to go back to last series against the Kings which went 7 games and ended in triple overtime with Riley See netting the winner. There have been a number of clutch performances for the Blizzard this postseason including twice in this series. Riley See scored the winner with 57 seconds left in game 1 while Sam Zagari jumped on a rebound with 39 seconds left in game 5, both key road wins in this series. As he has all season long, Tomas Anderson will play a key role in game seven should the Blizzard advance into the MJHL Final.
The series has been back and forth, hard-fought, tight-checking, and filled with veterans stepping up their game as well as future superstars in the MJHL and beyond making their mark. One team will move on as their dream of the Turnbull Cup continues.
