The Swan Valley Stampeders are off to the second round of the MJHL McMunn & Yates Turnbull Cup Playoffs.
After the Stamps’ took a 2-0 series lead with a pair of one-goal wins, the Kings doubled up on their counterparts in game three on the road in Swan River to cut the series lead in half.
Tied 2-2 in game four, the two clubs would need double overtime to decide a winner when Adam Rajsigl jumped on a rebound in front to give the Stamps’ a commanding 3-1 series lead. Tied 3-3 in game five, these two parkland rivals would require double overtime for the second straight game.
This time, it was the Kings coming out on top as Deepkaran Hans notched the double OT winner just 29 seconds in to force game six. In front of over 1200 fans in Dauphin for game six, the Stamps put together a strong 60-minute effort to close out the series thanks to goals from their most consistent offensive players.
The Stampeders now take on the Steinbach Pistons in the second round. Stay tuned for a schedule announcement.
