Winkler Flyers captain, Trent Penner, has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey at the University Alaska-Fairbanks.
The Winker native enjoyed a career year in 2023-24, finishing second in league scoring with 29 goals and 49 assists in 56 games. His performance earned him the MJHL’s MVP award and recognition as a MJHL First Team All-Star.
Penner was also recognized this season for his commitment to giving back in his local community, as he was named the Flyers representative for the RBC – MJHL Community Ambassador Team.
The University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks men’s hockey team plays NCAA Division 1 hockey as an independent program.
